What is SPPS Apps?

SPPS Apps is a collaborative online tool providing students with e-mail accounts (think gmail), online applications such as spreadsheet (think excel), documents (think word), and presentation (think powerpoint). Our SPPS APPS is similar to Google Docs. We are learning to use these programs in our classroom to create an online learning environment which encourages easy sharing of information between students in our classroom.

Students will be instructed in the appropriate use of e-mail and these online applications. These programs are available to students via their student account through the internet. Each student has a unique username and password to access their account which they already use to access computers within our school.

Sample student e-mail address: astudent023@stpaul.k12.mn.us

Students will bookmark http://start.stpaul.k12.mn.us to log in to their SPPS APPS account. Students will have access to e-mail, Docs, and calendar features from one convenient log in page. These tools will allow students to communicate, collaborate, and share with classmates and teachers from any computer with an Internet connection. All collaboration and sharing occurs in real time.  When multiple people are working on a document at the same time, records are kept so you can see who added and deleted material and when it was done.
