Resource Education at EXPO
EXPO offers its students enriched learning through the use of Resource Educators. Resource Educators specialize in the instruction of either bodily kinesthetics (phy.ed.), humanities, music, or science. Each classroom has a time set aside each day to work with one of the Resource Educators.

New Schedule for EXPO resource educators

Like many schools in St. Paul, EXPO's enrollment has sadly seen a decline in recent years, which has led to changes in our structure. Staff reductions in spring 2004 led to both the loss of an entire classroom AND a resource educator's position. So now there are only four "resource educators", meaning that learners will spend more time with each of the four remaining "resource educators". Prior to this year, each learner has had about 35 sessions with each resource educator. Now it will be 43 sessions. More time is good. So we developed a new schedule for the year which has each learners seeing each resource specialist seven (or in some cases five) times per year. Each of our rotations is a specific number of days; resource teachers planned a longer session in the fall, some shorter sessions during the winter, a longer spring session, and a final five-day session. The variety, we think, will keep both learners and educators fresh.

The 10:05 resource time slot classes (Dorothy Blackmon, Chan Vang, Nina Boyd, Mike Hartogh and Sean Dunn) get the bonus of ALSO seeing Mr. Mark Mueller during their resource rotations.
