| BWCA 2002 - A WILDERNESS ODYSSEY | | The learners at Expo Elementary have a wonderful enthusiasm for adventure and investigation. The enthusiasm is brought to life by an educator's passion for the outdoors. This passion becomes a reality for learners participating in our theater of learning program. A special elective program that allows learners and teachers to follow a passion, take a risk, or try something new. A theater of learning that affords interested learners an opportunity to explore the unique diversity of northern Minnesota's Boundary Waters Canoe Area or BWCA.
The Boundary Waters Canoe Area provides children an opportunity to challenge themselves and encourages learners to take risks in the outdoors during a Minnesota winter. Learners work with small teams, learn together, depend upon one another, and value each other's contributions on their team. Most importantly, learners have an opportunity to have fun, to learn about our environment, and to take risks! Nothing beats the exhilarating feeling of plunging into a cold frozen lake in the middle of winter, or taking a relaxing sauna at the end of a physically challenging and exhausting week of learning. Following my passion simply means providing learners with opportunities that challenging, engaging and fun. Learning through real life adventure.
